Mama Dukes came about after I made one quilt. It just was so enjoyable.

My name is Leslie, I am Mama Duke. My kids were recruited to help pick a company name. For them it was a no brainer. They called me Mama Duke all the time. So hence

I started out with an embroidery machine. well that was not exactly thrilling for me.. Luckily my sweet hubby had bought me a quilting/embroidery machine so off to making clothes and handbags. I give my Mom credit for that. I must say I got my sewing

skills from her. She made clothes and little outfits for our kids cabbage patch and Barbie dolls.

I had always enjoyed crafting, so this was just another step in my journey.

THEN I MADE MY FIRST QUILT! I was hooked. It was simply 5" squares but I was intrigued. I bought batting backing and proceeded to quilt this quilt on my domestic machine. It came out quiet nice. So I made a table-runner and decided to do this custom.

Lets just say it was not perfect, but it sure was pretty! From there that is all I have done quilt. And I do carding as a second hobby.

Now I had no idea that my husband was paying pretty close attention.. He started asking questions. He saw me watching videos of Long-Arm quilting and inquired about it. Well that man surprised me at Christmas with my first Long-Arm Machine.

I honed my skills with that machine but it was just to small. While sitting in a Diner having breakfast I showed him my dream machine which I had done a many times. To my shock he said go ahead order it...

Well after feeling his forehead to see if he was fevered, I looked at him and said don't you play with me. After a laugh I ordered the machine. My beautiful APQS Millie. I don't know why I was surprised he has always been so supportive.

From that point he worked for close to three months to make room for my new toy. My Studio was finished. Millie was delivered and I had gained enough confidence to start my own business. MAMA DUKES QUILTING WAS BORN!

I've been quilting for 10 + years. I do edge to edge as well as custom.

I look forward to seeing all the beautiful quilts that you piece.

Mama Dukes Quilting Service LLC quilting is my passion. I enjoy everything quilt related. So I’ve taken that passion and applied it to helping other Quilters complete their works of art.

We here at Mama Dukes enjoy the process of taking an already beautiful quilt top and watching it transform into a work of art that we all can be proud of and enjoy forever! Mama Dukes make every effort to ensure that your quilt is treated with respect and care through out the Quilting process.

Custom quilting is a design done freehand as well as with the use of rulers marking tools etc Many different effects can be achieved to enhance the beauty of piecework.

Custom quilting starts at .05 and can be as much as .07 depending on design and density.

Edge to Edge is done using a pantograph.

the pricing depends on the density of the pantograph, most start at .025

Machines and Materials

All my quilting is done on an 26' APQS Millennium. All hand guided I do not use a computer driven system. I am APQS Certified. I use top quality thread and batting for my quilting projects.

I do carry batting. it is Quilterd dream wool as well as 80/20 cotton.
